Menrad mod. 228, Half Eye
A “serious” looking ladies half eye frame. Black plastic front with silver “snake skin” finish and gold temples with black plastic tips.
The addition of an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare from computer monitors, would make this the ideal frame for a girl who spends a lot of time on her computer, but wants to be taken seriously.
The Menrad company was first started in 1896 by a goldsmith named Ferdinand Menrad. The company was called “Württembergische Optische Industrie-Anstalt Ferdinand Menrad” in Schwäbisch Gmünd!! In 70’s the company moved to its present factory at the same time as they introduced a very successful range of frames based on the “John Lennon” look. The 80’s saw Menrad obtain the licence to manufacture the “Joop!”, “Jaguar” and “Davidoff” ranges. Their current distribution network stretches across all of Europe, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Brazil.
