Dickens – Genuine 1850’s ish gunmetal frame.

This a rare genuine frame that has been fully re-conditioned. Naturally, because of it’s age, there is some pitting on the temples.

Made in Paris around the 1850’s, these frames were designed with straight temples so that they could slip under the wearers wig. The frame is so light that is simply  held in place by the sideways pressure of the temples. The frame has no nose pads and is the original inspiration for the now iconic Harry Potter Windsor bridge.

We have re-created this shape, because of the demand for period re-enactments, and can be found in three colours on the website as The Victorian Oval.
